Lydia's Closet
Lydia's Closet is generally opened on the 4th Saturday of every month when we have the "free" community breakfast. All clothing as well as household items and toiletries are given at no charge. Many times when other neighborhood churches are in need of clothing such as jeans and long sleeve shirts for migrant workers we are there for them. We have given clothing to hurricane victims in Texas and Puerto Rico. We have also helped out The Refuge, an outreach program that helps the Homeless. Anyone can come to our office doors, when we are open, and receive clothing and whatever we have that can help them.
We are very fortunate to have great donors of clothing and household items. Recently we received many bags of fine clothing from the Top of the World clothing drive. We also receive clothing from St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Many times those people who attend our community breakfast bring in donations as a thank you. Of course our Grace family has been there from the very beginning.
The closet is headed by Florence Bencivenga. The Closet Crew consists of Jill and Heather Grote, Betty Daege, Karen Grey, Virginia Dittmer, Ute Robins, Connie Puls, Gary Neal, Gerald Detweiler, Sharon Rivera and, when available, Tony Falco.
Because we have received a huge donation of clothing recently, we do not need anything in the line of clothing right now. What we always need are underwear, including socks, travel size toothpaste, hand sanitizers, tissue, toothbrushes, small body lotions and shampoo.
